Who is Ryan Moore?

I am part software developer, part artist — someone who finds joy in both the creative process and the logic of problem-solving. My education spans studio art, communications, and computer science, and my career bridges design and technology, guided by curiosity, creative instinct, and an entrepreneurial spirit.

Before I ever wrote a line of code, I learned about systems, service, and design in my parents’ flower shop and later at Cabbage Island Clambakes, our family business in Boothbay Harbor. Those early experiences shaped how I think about process, production, and aesthetics — how each piece, whether a bouquet or a business, must work in harmony. I grew up learning that success depends as much on how something feels as how it functions.

My work is rooted in observation — understanding how things operate, how people interact with systems, and how both can be improved. Whether I’m designing a user interface, building a data visualization, or sketching a composition, I rely on that same visual intuition and iterative process to create something that is both functional and expressive.

My full-time role is as General Manager of Cabbage Island Clambakes, a family-owned and operated experience in Boothbay Harbor, Maine. For more than three decades, my family and I have welcomed up to 360 guests daily for traditional Maine clambakes from mid-June through Labor Day. I oversee hiring and training our staff, preparing the island and ferry each spring, maintaining our extensive gardens, and directing day-to-day operations — from logistics to payroll, scheduling, and digital systems. It’s a job that blends leadership, creativity, and problem-solving, and it’s been part of my life since childhood.

In the off-season, I’ve taken on contract and administrative roles while completing my master’s in computer science. My focus has increasingly shifted toward web and software development, where I can combine my design sensibilities with technical expertise. My specialties include user experience design, data visualization, and application analysis — all driven by a belief that technology should be both powerful and intuitive.

I’m now seeking opportunities to collaborate with agencies, organizations, and small businesses that value creativity, clarity, and thoughtful design in their digital tools. Whether as part of a team or on a freelance basis, I aim to build applications and experiences that are as engaging as they are effective.

If you’re looking for someone who can bridge design and development — who can think like an artist and build like an engineer — I’d love to connect.
